"Bird Of Paradise"

"Bird Of Paradise" (Strelitzia) Native to South Africa This very tropical-looking plant needs bright light to produce its showy flowers that occur from spring to early summer. Maximum height if fourteen feet or so. Its soil must dry out between thorough soaking waterings. It tolerates low humidity well. Fertilize in the spring & summer months (March through October) when plant is actively growing. A mature ”bird” will form clumps of plants, thus propagation is with division, or seeds in the spring. Each flower on a "bird of paradise" lasts for several weeks.
