"Bird's
Nest Fern"
(Asplenium nidus)
Native to tropical Asia & Australia
This sturdy fern can be grown in moderate light or bright
light. It prefers high humidity (achieved with spray misting).
Its soil must dry to the touch between thorough soaking
waterings. A mature plant will produce spores (the 'seeds' of
ferns) that form patterned lines on the underside of leaves.
Fertilize in the spring & summer months (March through October)
when plant is actively growing. Propagation is with spores.
Before unfurling, new fronds (that occur in the center of
this fern's foliage) resemble eggs in a bird's nest, hence its
common name.
