Succulents
These arid plants need full sun. Their soil must dry
out completely between thorough soaking waterings. They
appreciate a cool (but still bright) winter location. Low humidity
is fine & a natural occurrence for these arid plants. Fertilize
in the spring & summer months (March through October) when
they are actively growing. Because all succulents have small
root systems, when they outgrow their current pot, it is important
that the new pot only be two inches larger than the old pot
(e.g. the succulent in the 5" pot movies into a 7"
pot). Also: unlike 'regular' foliage plants, succulents must
not be watered after their transplant. They must sit dry for
a week or so before the next watering. While mainly cultivated for their interesting shapes or the
unusual texture of their leaves, many succulents also produce
flowers that are quite delightful. |
